Here are The Bordeaux Foodie’s favorite go-to Casual Restaurants in Bordeaux

In a city with literally THOUSANDS of dining options to choose from, we understand that having a proper meal can be a daunting task.

Although, that’s why The Bordeaux Foodie is (always) here to help.

Here are some of our favorite casual sit down casual restaurants that never ever  EVER disappoint.

1. Big Bistro Girondin

Located in the heart of Bordeaux, this casual french bistro offers a relaxed yet refined dining experience with reinvented French classics made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. This is a go-to spot for The Bordeaux Foodie, as it consistently hits the spot each and every time. The restaurant also has  an impressive wine list which complements the menu that makes the meal even better!

A standout dish that truly wowed us was the squid ink pasta, topped with perfectly tender calamari and juicy cherry tomatoes—an absolute delight!!Reservations are highly recommended, especially on weekends, as this bistro fills up fast.

2. Papa Lello

Few things are as comforting as a perfectly baked Neapolitan pizza, and Papa Lello delivers just that. Situated along the quais, this unassuming spot has become a favorite for its simple yet exceptional pizza. What made our visit unforgettable? The quality. We indulged in a classic Margherita with extra mushrooms and olives. We also ordered some  creamy burrata on the side—every bite was a delight. No frills, just pure pizza perfection.

3. Poulette

Tucked away in the vibrant Marché des Capucins, Poulette is a true hidden gem. Despite its name, which translates to “little chicken,” the star of the show here is, without a doubt, the best mussels and fries in Bordeaux—possibly the best you’ll ever have. Given Bordeaux’s proximity to the Atlantic, the seafood here is unbelievably fresh, and Poulette takes full advantage of that. Both the market and the restaurant are must-visits, and we guarantee you’ll leave utterly satisfied and craving more.

So there you have it, our top 3 picks!
